I joined FES in 1973, a year before I finished my PhD. Both at York University for my BA and at the University of Toronto for my MA and PhD, I was able to take advantage of both a strong disciplinary base in geography and an interdisciplinary perspective, particularly in what was then termed the Institute for Environmental Studies at Toronto. When the opportunity to apply for a position in FES came up, I jumped at the chance to work in an interdisciplinary, innovative program. Over the past years, I have enjoyed working with both faculty members and students from a wide variety of backgrounds who bring different experiences and perspectives.
