Our Graduate Programs Writing Tutor is available to assist graduate students in developing successful writing skills and processes through offering support, advice and helpful resources.
This service uses a developmental approach to improving your writing. Advice on addressing specific writing issues/tasks may be provided, however, proofreading and/or editing services are not. If you think you can benefit from writing support, please speak to your advisor first to see if the Tutor’s services are the best choice for you.
Appointments for individual or small-group sessions can be made. To arrange an appointment email the Graduate Programs Writing Tutor suggesting two possible dates/times in the above timeframe. Ray will send you a confirmation of the appointment.
To make the session as effective as possible, include in your email a few details about your needs, such as:
- the description of the writing assignment you’re working on
- the part of the writing stage you’re at (e.g. beginning, outline, first draft, final draft)
- what specific problems you are having (e.g. planning, generating ideas, clarifying your thinking, researching, organizing material, fitting it all together, etc.)
- any specific ideas about what you would like to do in the session
