Why Environmental Studies?

In the Caribbean, my family owns and operates the largest liquid and solid waste management company to-date. My practical experience in our company helped me develop my interest. Having grown up around our business I had many opportunities to gain practical experience and that is how my curiosity and awareness in Environmental sustainability grew. Originally, I didn’t know where I wanted to go school. Once I began researching schools, I learned that York University has a very high standing in Barbados, and this program, in particular, was good fit for me. I learned about how the FES faculty can bring the subject matter to life in the classroom. What really inspired me to join the Faculty was the fact that it is a small program which enables students to establish relationships with the staff, other students and faculty.

Future Plans

After my graduation from York I hope to complete the MES (MA in Environmental Studies) as well as a PHD. I will then return to Barbados to take over the family business and perhaps eventually the political arena.
